Introducing Icarus
Icarus is our orange Signature Series hard wax. The Highest Quality Premium Hard Wax available which also just happens to be both Vegan Friendly & Hypoallergenic/Allergen Free. Our Signature Series wax is a first of it's kind. This super elastic wax is ideal for both fine and coarse hair, meaning it can be used on the face, bikini and body. Icarus is a low temperature hard wax formulation that is perfect for even the most sensitive skin. That's right, no more irritation caused by other wax lines. This wax contains no Colophonium or animal-derived products, therefore it is the ONLY hard wax that is both Hypoallergenic/Allergen Free and Vegan Friendly. Just check the ingredients of the wax you're using, you'll see it contains "Colophonium" a universally recognized allergen; see the National Institutes of Health literature on the topic. Due to the blend of very high quality synthetic resins, waxes, and polymers, Icarus can be applied very thin without breaking upon removal. Oh yeah and, of course, it's fragrance free!
Icarus' Story
The story of Icarus has many lessons; but none more important than moderation! You cannot tell the full story of Icarus without including his father, Daedalus. Daedalus story is a warning that wit and cunning will not allow one to escape their fate or Karma. Daedalus was arguably the "Father of Carpentry" possibly inventing many tools including the axe, saw, glue and more. His arrogance got the best of him and in a fit of jealously he attempted to kill his (more talented) apprentice. His punishment from the Godess Athena was to be turned into a bird and banished to the Island of Crete to work for King Minos. The King tasked Daedalus with containing his Minotaur. While working on a labrynth to trap the King's Minotaur, Daedalus married a slave Naucrate whom gave birth to his unwinged Son, Icarus. Daedalus wanted a better life for his Son and plotted a first of its kind, incredibly elaborate albeit equally dangerous escape. Attempting to bestow upon his Son the wisdom and the lessons he learned throughout a life of accomplishments and mistakes, ultimately the fate of Icarus was his own. (Since you're actually reading this; please enter code " moderation " for a 1 time 10% off your order of Icarus -there will be only 10 uses total available for this code, 1 per customer. We won't share this code elsewhere, a gift for you reading our story in detail <3) Daedalus distracted his captors with the lybrinth, using this time to construct artificial wings of wax & feathers from his own wings.
He taught Icarus how to fly, but warned his wings had weaknesses; if he flew too low the ocean would swallow him, too high and Sun would melt his wings. He emplored his Son to pace himself; slow and steady and he would make it to land safely. Ironically, the master craftsman made the wings too good, easily allowing Icarus to fly too high. The temptation was too much and Icarus flew higher and higher until the wax melted & the wings fell apart. Into the ocean he went & Icarus was never seen again. Heed our warning; Mermaid Wax emplores you to add enough red wax (RA) to the yellow wax (HELIOS), but not to mix too little or too much. Using just the right mix (~10:1) you will recreate a beautiful orange wax and Icarus will live again in your wax pot! However, too much Ra will overpower the Helios and your Icarus will be lost forever!
